Project: Pushout: The Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools

Key team member in driving the documentary's national marketing communications campaign and event production operations.  Among a number of strategic and tactical responsibilities, I developed social media collateral based on film key art for the social team and adapted segments of the film footage for social media posts.

The film and community awareness campaign garnered widespread national acclaim and inspired Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) to introduce the Ending PUSHOUT Act  H.R.5325—the Ending Punitive, Unfair, School-based Harm that is Overt and Unresponsive to Trauma (P.U.S.H.O.U.T.) Act —legislation to end the punitive pushout of girls of color from schools and disrupt the school-to-confinement pathway on December 5, 2019. The program is now airing on PBS Television broadcast and digital platforms through June 2020.
